Description :
The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) is a regional organization created in May 1981 by Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The main objective of the feasibility study is to examine the possibilities for establishment of a platform for development of cooperation in the field of sustainable and clean energy policies and technologies between the European Commission and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council with close involvement of the industry, universities and research institutions on both sides.
The platform is structured as a network of relevant institutions both in the GCC and EU countries in the field of sustainable and clean energy technologies. Research and technology institutions, universities, industry and relevant State administration are actively involved in the network.
Description of the Actual Services Provided Component 1: Creation of the Network
• Identification of suitable entities of both GCC and EU sides, with interest in the broad field of sustainable energy,
• Support for the coordination work within the Network on topics of common interest.

Component 2: Operation of the Network and development of its activities
• Identification of prioritized GCC EU joint research topics & pilot projects in sustainable energy
• Promotion of joint EU-GCC projects
• Setting and operation of joint GCC-EU Working Groups (WGs) on topics of interest
• Development of project ideas fiches and dissemination to international donors / banks and other funding sources / interested parties.
