Description :
Horticultural farms and market gardens are extremely vulnerable to fluctuations and increase in energy costs. Typically in these activities, the energy bill can amount to 6 to 10% of the turnover.

Professional organisations have setup a sensitization procedure to promote rational uses of energy among farmers.

Description of the Actual Services Provided Energy audits undertaken by IED follow the specifications established by VINIFLHOR and ADEME. The study comprises:

● An in-depth study of gas, fuel and electricity consumption,
● Setup of an energy monitoring plan adapted to the exploitation
● Visits to the greenhouses to analyse the envelopes and heating systems. Temperature measurements in the production units are also proposed.
● Suggestions to improve energy efficiency, coherent with the exploitation, its organisation and management.

Energy audits are partially financed by the professional association of wine growers, VINIFLHOR and ADEME Rhône Alpes.

IED has realised audits in the following exploitations : L.SIBIODON, tomato production (2006), EARL HORTICOLE de CRY, ornamental plants (2006), GAEC BISSON, ornamental plants (2007).
