Description :
The André Malraux building has a good energy performance and was built with this view : well isolated external structure, heat and cold production through groundwater cooled heat pump, adapted choice of air treatment equipments. The main equipments are well maintained and updated.

On the other hand the regulating system is faulty.

This could be improved by the following:

1. Update theregulation system so as to improve overall comfort and to consume energy only when necessary
2. Improvement of the installation management and their working time by installing a CTM system.
3. A reduction of the consumption on the air handling unit by putting a variable speed on some fans and a heat recovery system between new air and extracted air.

Description of the Actual Services Provided The conducted study confirmed these points, namely : an important potential for energy consumption reduction through an optimised management of equipments and HVAC engineering. This constant management of intermittences allows a saving of 22% on the global energy expenditure of the site.

The analysis particularly showed that the management of intermittences for the air handling unit was missing and this resulted in heating or cooling expenditures without justification. The programmed stopping of air handling unit and the reduction of air flow have a very high impact on the ai rhandling unit consumption, the heat pump consumption and the auxiliaries consumption (drawing and circulation pumps).

To reach this objective the necessary tool is a modern CTM system which enables a correct driving of the HVAC engineering systems as a function of the occupations.

The analysis tackles another aspect, which is the lighting. On this point, gains exist but don’t generate a sufficient interest. Other considerations must be taken in account to give this interest to the project : Reorganizing of the spaces, visual comfort, respect of the lighting standards.
