Description :
The objective of this assignment was to prepare a geospatial analysis and present the least cost options for electrification for villages located within the radio of 100 km of the substations of the OMVG in The Gambia and Guinea Bissau, and the Substations of the OMVS in Mali and Mauritania. The analysis provided detailed estimation of investment and operating cost requirements.

Description of the Actual Services Provided The overall scope of this assignment included:
i) Creation of a GIS-based spatial least-cost electrification platform that comprehensively addresses, at a high level, both grid extension of MV an HV network(s) to connect the households located on those villages.
ii) Data gathering and validation, as appropriate, for the electrification activities described before. These shall broadly encompass, but are not limited to: (i) where the people without access and other potential beneficiaries are – locations of priority service delivery facilities such as schools, health clinics, administrative centers, major productive load centers; (ii) digitized representation of MV and HV networks and lines from the bulk supply delivery points, the 30-kV busbar of the 225/30 kV substations in each country .
iii) Projections of electricity connections and demand for the population with no electricity service at sub-locations level, reinforcement of some locations distribution networks at MV and LV levels, and aggregated for presentation at district and/or province level, at a minimum. The geospatial analysis was done using the GEOSIM specialized software.
iv) Development of a geospatial interactive plateform in order to simulate grid extension and visualize indicators around substations
