Description :
The Valorization of Rural Electrification Plan is an initiative of the Cameroonian Government, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The project's activities are aimed at contributing to the development of decentralized hydropower generation, increasing access to energy, both in quantity and quality, for rural populations, enhancing the productive use of electricity as well as contributing to the development of second-generation agriculture (access to investment for small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises specifically in the cassava, plantain, rice and small ruminant value chains)

Description of the Actual Services Provided IED coordinates the electrification component and its activities on behalf of the Rural Electrification Agency as follows:

- Tenders for the Construction of 2 SHPs and associated distribution networks (52 rural localities): detailed studies, tender documents and calls, and supply and works contracts
- Setting up a portfolio of 10 bankable SHP projects as well as the establishing a multi-criteria grid for the selection of relevant sites for rural electrification.
IED is responsible for the good technical realization of the electrification solutions and advises the AER and more generally the 3 public institutions (AER, MINADER, FEICOM) during the different phases of conception and follow-up / control of the implementation
