Description :
The project aims to modernize Benin's power distribution infrastructure in order to extend the network's ability to meet future growth, improve reliability, and reduce power losses and power cuts.
The "Power Distribution" Project will help modernize and densify the network serving Cotonou, the economic capital, as well as regional networks selected to complement the investment proposals for solar production.
At the national level, it will support the construction of a modern dispatching center able to manage the network more efficiently, including intermittent energy produced from renewable sources

Description of the Actual Services Provided MCA-Benin II, acting as project manager, recruited the GOPA INTEC / IED / ANTEA Consortium to draft the construction plans and technical specifications for the strengthening and the rehabilitation of the current electricity distribution network in Cotonou and its surroundings (161kV, 63kV, 33kV, 20kV, 15kV), as well as in the cities of Parakou, Natitingou, Djougou, and Porto-Novo. This includes conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA).

Within the Consortium, IED is responsible for the technical engineering activities on the 63kV, 33kV, 20kV, 15kV components (6 new GIS HV/MV substations, 2 existing HV/MV substation, 140km HV underground line, 50km MV underground line, Rehabilitation of 350km MV overhead line) :

i. Project preliminary engineering studies
i. Project detailed engineering studies
ii. Specification of equipment
iii. Confirmation of the rights of way of works in consultation with the team in charge of ESIA and PAR
iv. Definition of 63Kv underground networks laying procedures
v. Assistance with procurement
