Description :
The lack of "Climate Change" projects in Africa led the World Bank to hire the consultancy BRECHE for identifying projects eligible for GEF funding.
BRECHE subcontracted IED for the energy efficiency / renewable energy component of the project.
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description of the Actual Services Provided IED identified approximately fifty projects under discussion by public or private operators in Africa and helped prepare the necessary documents.
A short ten-day mission in Mali, Senegal and the Ivory Coast resulted in around ten briefs, namely :
* a decentralised wind farm project in Cape Verde,
* a domestic fuel project in Bamako (Mali),
* an energy efficiency in buildings project in the Ivory Coast, as a follow up to FAC, AFME and ESMAP,
* household waste methanisation project for a secondary city in the Senegal.
As a result of this mission IED was present at a seminar convened by AFTES alongside NGOs in 1992 and participated in a Global Environment Fund (GEF) paper on climate changes issues.
