Description :
IED prepared the project profile standard documentation for review by the GEF Council. The various project components were analysed and institutional implementation modalities proposed, with specific focus and recommendations on the following aspects:

Description of the Actual Services Provided * project development: assessment of local demand for wind pumping services, comparison of diesel and wind mechanical pumping costs, technical specifications, maximisation of local component and transfer of technical know-how, wind and ground water resource assessment, identification of project management and project partners;
* socio-economic context of the project: compliance with the objectives of the drought convention, assessment of regional demand for the equipment and justification for the development of a local production capacity, assessment of the project’s economic impact;
* compliance with GEF eligibility criteria: innovative aspects of the project, project replicability, evaluation of innovative institutional and organisational aspects, incremental cost calculations.
