Description :
The Government of Syria asked for technical and financial assistance to implement a strategy to reduce the consumption of CFC’s in liquid cooling groups, which are mainly used in central cooling installations.

The study focussed on liquid cooling using centrifuge chillers, which use CFC (R11, R12 and R500), in the cooling sector, in tertiary applications (buildings, hotels, hospitals, airports, etc.) and industries.

Description of the Actual Services Provided The objectives of the study are to :
* establish a strategy for the reduction and elimination of CFC consumption
* project formulation, allowing to reach the objectives defined in the strategy. The project will focus on :
- recent chiller confinement,
- old chiller replacement by centrifuge chillers using agreed refrigerants (134a, NHA or other). The creation of an ESCO activity in Syria will also be envisaged.
- regulatory and legal aspects
- implementation of workshops and training of the professionals of the sector, particularly maintenance personal.
