Description :
Total Energie from France has developed a new photovoltaic pumping system, the TSP 1000. It uses a submersible pump with a high efficiency brushless DC electric motor and a positive displacement pump. The system has a very good overall efficiency of 60%, much higher than the other similar existing equipment. The pump is powered by 8 modules and is specially fit for small communities needing 5 to 15 m3 per day at a total head ranging from 20 to 60 metres.
The goals of the project are :
To monitor field performance of the pump with the help of a data acquisition system able to record the different parameters of the system.
To demonstrate the application of solar pumping for drinking water in small communities in Africa, through a socio-economic follow-up.

Description of the Actual Services Provided The role of IED is :
* to identify a community having a need matching the typical performance of the system,
* to work on the awareness and the organisation of the community before the installation,
* to undertake a socio-economic follow-up
* to organise the data collection process in order to make a technical evaluation of the system during a period of one year.
