Description :
The Water Department of the Life Setting Direction of Roanne with IED are working together to develop and implement a decentralized electricity supply from water pipes (at the foot of two dams) upstream of a treatment plant in Renaison.

Description of the Actual Services Provided The feasibility study is divided into two main phases:
* A technical phase with objective of identifying the range of equipment needed – including equipment which examines the power produced (max.,min.,average) and setting schemes at the end of a multicriteria analysis.
This phase will clearly describe the proposed improvements (civil works and hydro mechanical equipments), the connected variants (coupling network, total or partial resale of energy consumption, basic functioning and/or for rescue, power cut) as well as the impact on costs.
This phase will also assess the environmental impacts and, in particular, assess the impact on water quality.
* An economic phase which will analyse the economic impacts of the project – including investments, economic calculation: Increases of working products, avoided costs and profitability calculation through the valuation of the different investment return periods.
Overall two equipment options were proposed depending on whether the compensation water downstream in one of the two dams is used or not. It was noted that the use of the compensation water would lead to doubling of the installed power and the annual energy.
The results of the feasibility study will clearly illustrate the actions / equipments etc that are necessary for the realisation of the project. They will serve as a basis to commence the engineering studies and to permit the establishment of the needed financing.
