Description :
Anxious to control the questions related to the council development of the demand for energy, but also to develop its own energy resources and to engage the actions aiming to stimulate the interest of the inhabitants to incite them to better consume in a more effective way, the local council of Hermillon (73) entrusted to IED a diagnosis study on the hydroelectric installation of the brook of Hermillon, first tributary of the Arc in the middle of the valley of Maurienne.
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description of the Actual Services Provided The diagnosis study have:
* To establish an assessment of the electric situation on the council territory (direct application of the prescripts of Directive 2001/77 EC of September 27, 2001, on the promotion of electricity produced from renewable sources of energies; of the Law 2000-108 of February 10, 2000 - known as "electric" laws - relating to the modernization and the development of the public utility of electricity, and the decree of 7 March 2003 relating to the multiannual programming of investments (MPI) of production of electricity, to appreciate its evolution, and to propose a choice of management,
* To evaluate the possibilities of equipment of a site which had been the subject of a framing study in June 1981: Three solutions of installation were examined and proposed (Installed capacity working between 1,3 and 1,9 MW for producible ranging between 6 and 8,3 TWh),
* To evaluate, for the council, the interest of a hydroelectric project on the brook of Hermillon.
This study, which firstly tried to determine the hydrology of the brook and the geological context of the site (the local council of Hermillon is installed near the river Arc on an alluvial cone resulting from old torrential lava) made it possible not only to treat on a hierarchical basis the possible solutions for this market town, but also to specify, in the broad outline, the most adapted technical solutions, to specify their contents, and to quantify their costs to allow later on the engagement of a feasibility study which will describe in a precise way the solution which will have to be implemented.
