Description :
The study aims to analyse success factors for sustainable rural electrification projects using renewable energy in West Africa. It includes an analysis of current achievements, the institutional and regulatory frameworks, as well as the suitable organizational models in 8 countries, in order to identify bankable investment projects and appropriate funding schemes.

Description of the Actual Services Provided - Present situation of rural electrification (electrification rates, institutional and regulatory frameworks, key players, implementation strategy, tariffs, funding schemes) and present rural electrification programmes in each country.
-Analysis of suitable tariff and regulatory frameworks
-Analysis of completed and on-going projects:
Isolated communities powered by PV or hybrid systems, isolated industrial units with self-generation, pre-electrification through SHS and community PV systems
-Analysis of successful rural electrification planning, integrating centralized and decentralized rural electrification options
-Suggestions of specific funding tools suitable for the development of rural electrification using renewable energy in West Africa.
