In 2005, a major revision work turned out to be necessary in order to obtain a final and homogeneous guide covering the 5 thematic parts of AEU to be published in 2006.
1. sound environment
2. waste management & efficiency
3. water management & efficiency
4. mobility management & efficiency
5. energy management & efficiency

Within the energy field, some major update were necessary due to its quick evolution and important evolution in regulatory and technico-economical framework. During the period 2003-2005, local communities gained a major role on decentralised electrification. Climate change issues or major national programmes for development of renewable energy sources as well as rational use of energy have been set up.
