End of digitalization of distribution networks in NIGELEC's urban centres

After 18 months of fieldwork, the digitalization phase of NIGELEC's urban distribution networks has been finalised by the IED team and its partner in october 2020.

Operated with the support of NIGELEC and with the help of high-performance mobile equipment, all network equipment in the cities of Niamey, Diffa, Dosso, Tahoua, Agadez, Maradi, Zinder and  Tillaberi  has been geo-referenced and consolidated into a geographic information system (GIS) to facilitate network monitoring and maintenance.

Digitalisation

These digitalization operations have enabled the mapping of more than 1200 km of medium voltage lines and 3800 km of low voltage lines with their electrical characteristics as well as 256,000 meters. Through the visualization application developed for this purpose, NIGELEC will have a powerful and comprehensive network monitoring tool that will ultimately simplify network maintenance and reinforcement operations.
