May 2013 : Training on Rural Electrification planning

In the framework of the project IREP, financed by the program Facility Energy Programme of the European Commission, two agents from the Rural Energy Agency of Tanzania, (REA - Countryman Energy Agency) came at the head office of IED in Francheville for a two weeks training on Rural Electrification planning. The programme included :

  • Geographical Information system (GIS)
  • Methodology in Rural Electrification with the tool GEOSIM © (decision-making tool)

The IREP objective is to improve the coordination of rural electrification investments in Tanzania by maximizing the impact of rural electrification on sustainable development through establishing effective cross sectorial investment and planning capacities and instruments using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and GEOSIM as the convening factor.
