Solar Plan in Burkina Faso

IED participates in the implementation of the Burkina Faso Solar Plan

In Burkina, IED is supporting SONABEL for the development and integration of large scale photovoltaic production on the national grid. In particular, IED carries out feasibility studies leading to the selection of EPC companies for the realization of:
- A photovoltaic power plant of about 40 MWp near Ouagadougou
- A 90 kV high-voltage line to connect this plant to the transmission grid
- Several regional photovoltaic plants connected to the grid

- A multi-MW pilot storage system to facilitate the integration of a significant share of photovoltaic production on the national grid.
This work is financed by the French Development Agency, AFD.

Green Mini Grids Kenya

Supported by the United Kingdom and the European Union, Kenya's "mini green network" project, managed by the French Development Agency (AFD), supports the private development of renewable energy mini-grids through state-of-the-art subsidies. investment and technical assistance to both the beneficiaries and the mini-grid sector. The French Development Agency (AFD) has selected Innovation Energie Développement (IED) in association with Practical Action Consulting and I-DEV, to act as a management entity for the operations of the program. After a call for projects launched in May 2017, in the first quarter of 2018, IED signed 3 grant agreements with private operators POWERHIVE, POWERGEN and REV.SOL. These first three agreements aim to connect 12990 connections (households, productive and social uses). For more information on the project, click here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fVv7bLEf_w)

SEPTEMBER 2017: Restitution workshop of the off-grid electrification Policy and Master Plan

IED is currently conducting the " Study to Establish an Off-Grid Electrification Enabling Environment" in Benin, funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC, USA) and aimed at setting up an enabling political, technical, institutional and financial environment to facilitate small private entrepreneurs’ involvement in the off-grid electrification sub-sector.

The Policy document and the off-grid electrification Master Plan were validated by the Steering Committee of the project on September 14th, 2017, in the presence of the institutional players of the electricity sector (ARE, DGE, SBEE, ABERME, ANADER). These documents will be soon presented to the Council of Ministers for official approval.

Rural Energy Master Plan (REMP) launch in Tanzania

6 April 2017 - The Rural Energy Master Plan (REMP) for Tanzania was officially started during the kick off meeting held in REA

The project implemented by the consortium of Multiconsult, IED and Tatedo aims at supporting energy sector policies and initiatives towards ensuring reliable and cost efficient energy services for social and productive use, rational and efficient use of energy, and energy conservation. Encourages development of available energy resources in rural off-grid areas and increased contribution of renewable energy sources in the national energy balance.
The overall objective of this assignment is to provide the Rural Energy Agency (REA), with an up-to-date tool for planning and implementation of rural energy provision meeting target set in the National Energy Policy, National Strategy for Growth and Poverty Alleviation (MKUKUTA) and Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) goals. The plan is also aimed at exploitation and utilisation of renewable energy sources for improved energy supplies in the country.
