Description :
The objective is to provide relevant departments at the Department of Energy (DOE) and also at National Electrification Administration (NEA), National Power Corporation - Small Power Utilities Group (NPC- SPUG) with a basic understanding of GIS tools and how they can be used for Rural Electrification Planning.

Description of the Actual Services Provided 4 days training for 16 staff in Manila on:
- Fundamentals of GIS – projection, mapping,
- Structuring a GIS data base,
- Sourcing information from Excel, maps, other GIS,
- Use of Google maps and non-georeferenced data,
- Production of thematic maps.

3 days training in the field at the location and in collaboration with an Electricity Cooperative (EC) on:
- Collecting field data on a GPS,
- Integrating with data available at the Electricity Cooperative.

1 day workshop with higher level managers on:
- Use and interpretation of maps,
- Resources required to constitute the required Data base.
